Philanthropy comes from the Greek "filos" which means love and "anthropos" that means man, so is the love of man, when you give help to people without asking anything in return or any interest involved, This could be expressed better, when you offer help from develop programs for charitable projects.
The general sense of this word is to try to build a fairer society in which all people, especially those who really need it, as well as they have a chance in their progress. A positive example of philanthropy is when you do community service at a nursing home , sharing a little time with these people is very nice and somehow makes you feel better as a person, even learn to appreciate life and things you have. A negative example of philanthropy is when people create an organization with other interests or profit, for example, using the company to ask for donations from TELETON being that this money not be used for disabled children, if not for the benefit of people who asks. Finally, I think it's nice to help others without receiving money in return, but the welfare and the smile of people, that's the most important since to achieve the common good is part of life and we never know when we will need the helps of others.
